FABERNO · DEPARTMENT 05 · THE LEDGER --:--:-- RENT vs OWN - DO THE SUM
The Ledger - the savings department

You're paying rent on software.

The average small business now pays for four to six subscriptions - a booking tool here, a CRM there - and uses a fifth of each. We build the one tool that does your exact workflow, you own it outright, and the rent stops. Tick what you pay for and watch the ledger.

Station 05·01 - Your bill, on the counter

Tick what you pay for every month

Typical prices are pre-filled - change any number to match your real bill. The receipt updates as you go. No email required, no tricks; the maths runs in your browser.

↳ PRICES ARE TYPICAL UK SMB TIERS - EDIT THEM TO MATCH YOUR BILL

What we replace, and what you should keep

Anyone promising to replace everything is selling you a different kind of rent. Here's the real split.

We happily replace

✂ Generic tools doing a job a custom one does better
  • Booking & scheduling tools - yours can match your exact rules: deposits, staff, rooms, cut-offs.
  • Generic CRMs - you use 6 fields of their 200. Yours has your 6, plus your workflow.
  • Form builders & client portals - straightforward builds that stop charging per response.
  • Per-seat project tools - your crew shouldn't cost £8/head/month to see a job list.
  • Website builder rentals - a fast site you own, not a monthly hostage situation.

We'll tell you to keep

✓ Things where the subscription is genuinely earning it
  • Accounting & payroll (Xero, QuickBooks…) - tax compliance is their full-time job. Keep it; we integrate with it.
  • Payment processing (Stripe, SumUp…) - never hand-roll card handling. We wire it in properly instead.
  • Email infrastructure - deliverability is a dark art; we build on it, not against it.
  • Anything regulated - if it carries legal liability, the vendor should carry it, not a bespoke build.

The test we apply: would a custom tool be meaningfully better for your workflow within two years of rent? If yes, we build. If no, we say so on the first call - it's why people trust the rest of what we say.
